About IFFTAC
“International Festival of Films On Tribal Art & Culture- 2010”
VANYA (An enterprise of Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Madhya Pradesh) and iiMC (Indian Infotainment Media Corporation) has joined hands to organize “International Festival of Films on Tribal Art & Culture”.
Bhopal, surrounded by tribal belt, where IFFTAC Is organized, is the ideal venue for the festival, considering its connectivity to major capitals of various states, besides Delhi.
IFFTAC is an International event to showcase and recognize authentic, artistic, effective and Informative films on Tribal Art & Culture, Films based on the theme of Tribal culture, art, religion, architecture, philosophy, traditions, mythology, history, life-style, food, costumes, jewellery, sports and various aspects associated with them, will be shown in this 3 day festival.
The term tribe generally means an ethnic group, geographically isolated or semi isolated, identified with some particular territory and having distinct social, economic and cultural traditions and practices. The tribal are the autochthonous people of the land who are believed to be original inhabitants. The ancient and medieval sources of information including Vedas mention various tribes.
The tribal population is found in almost all parts of the world but India has the largest concentration of tribal population. Therefore there is need to organize this festival to showcase the history and the development of tribal population.
Film makers from all over the world would be exposed to the legacy of art and culture of tribal of oldest civilization of the world, i.e. India. Many film personalities would attend IFFTAC, since it is first of its kind. Many opportunities would be opened with the interaction that this festival will facilitate between filmmaker and his audience.
Seminars on various aspects of tribal culture and art will be organized during the festival, which will bring on stage leading luminaries from history, art, architecture, literature, religion, etc to benefit the enthusiasts and participants. These seminars will present papers on various aspects on tribal culture and art, to benefit the future generations.
